The ER can’t help you—we can
If you think you’ll just go to the emergency room to get that aching tooth pulled, think again. ER doctors legally cannot pull a tooth or perform procedures such as root canals. Only a licensed dentist like Ronald W. Ristow DDS LLS can take care of dental emergencies, so call our office anytime, day or night, if you’re injured or in pain!
In the meantime, you can take one or more of the following steps to ease the discomfort before seeing our emergency dentist:
- Gargle with a mixture of one teaspoon of salt and eight ounces of hot water to relieve irritation and reduce swelling.
- If you’ve had a tooth knocked out, put it in a glass of milk until you can see the dentist.
- If you are experiencing pain around a single tooth, you might have gotten a food particle or irritant stuck between the tooth and the gum; try flossing.
- Use a cold compress to help reduce swelling, numb irritation, and stop any bleeding that may occur.
- Swish hydrogen peroxide around your mouth to help kill any bacteria that might be present and alleviate irritation.
